"Amicus Apple"

"Amicus Apple", Aberdeen

"This trendy bar sister venue to an Edinburgh original is the latest addition to Aberdeen's burgeoning bar scene. Located in Langstane Place it offers an attractive interior that is a study in purple with gun-metal grey seats and the occasional splash of teal. There’s a dedicated VIP space and a garden area with heaters (essential in Aberdeen and even then we’d suggest you bring a coat). The cocktail list is genuinely exciting with a section inspired by New York tipples and while there’s a strong showing for the classics there’s also a pleasing push towards the experimental. The Sugar Puff Martini is made with vodka honey and Sugar Puff infused milk while the Pear and Jalepeno Margarita has a real kick or you could try one of the bar’s best known creations imported from the Edinburgh mothership – the Apple Swizzle which contains a mix of citron vodka pomme liqueur apple juice sweetened lemon and topped with Midori. Geeks that we are we’d be mighty tempted by the splendidly named Master Weasley’s Wonderjuice – yes they do mean that Weasley as it’s named for its ginger colour. The drink contains that Scottish standby Irn Bru mixed with Malibu which even they recognise doesn’t sound that appetising – no wonder they say ‘don’t knock it till you try it!’ The food is less out-there and the mezze platter is a safe bet if you’re feeling peckish though if you want to try something Scottish there are treats such as haggis bon bons with peppercorn sauce Scottish salmon and steak on offer. The venue also does a hearty Sunday brunch which you can accompany with the traditional Bloody Mary or the less than traditional Bloody Hell (which has chilli infused vodka to kick your hangover into touch)."
